Teaching

I am very lucky to work in a department that has a pluralist attitude to philosophy and to teaching philosophy, meaning that we can offer a diverse and exciting range of courses.

I currently teach:

  • Mind and Consciousness - a second year undergraduate module that is all about perception and perceptual consciousness

  • Mind, Psychology, and Mental Health - a third year undergraduate module that is all about applying philosophy to mental health

I sometimes also contribute to the first year undergraduate module Philosophy and the Contemporary World, with a lecture on the myth of mental illness.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I made a distance learning version of my module on the philosophy of perception, aimed at second year undergraduates.

I also made a 10 minute introduction to functionalism, aimed at first year undergraduates.

I am currently supervising three PhD students in the areas of the philosophy of mental health, and the philosophy of perception. If you are interested in doing a PhD in either of these areas with me at the University of Nottingham, then please get in touch.
